Sonu Nigam's 4-year-old son sings 'Kolaveri Di'
New Delhi: Tamil actor Dhanush has stiff competition for his hit song 'Why this Kolaveri Di' - from playback singer Sonu Nigam's four years old son Nevaan. The pint-sized singer has modified the song to add new lyrics and his version is getting as much attention as the one sung by Dhanush on YouTube.
The new version of the song has the lyrics 'handla glass-u, glass la milk-u, milk-u colour white-u; empty glass-u, mamma come-u, give me milk-u dear-u." Nigam is seen in the video along with his wife Madhurima, encouraging their son who takes on the microphone with the practised ease of a pro.
The milk version of 'Kolaveri Di' already has 82,900 page views while the original, which was uploaded on November 16 is going strong with 16,253,632 hits. Composed by 18-year-old Anirudh Ravichander, the song with funny lyrics is sung in an unconventional manner by Dhanush himself and it will be a part of his next film '3', which is being directed by his wife Aishwayra. The film also stars Shruthi Haasan.
Seldom has any song created such a craze - from children to youngsters to celebrities, everyone is hooked on to the song. Dhanush says he is overwhelmed by the response to his song 'Kolaveri Di', which has become a rage online, attracting fans like Amitabh Bachchan.
The Tanglish (Tamil and English) song is a funny take on a heartbreak. Despite his young age, Nevaan, who has dark ringlets, has sung with confidence and endeared himself to thousands of people on the Internet.
Facebook's response on its content policy
New Delhi: Facebook has come up with a response after Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal asked Internet companies to screen alleged derogatory, defamatory and inflammatory content about religious figures and Indian leaders.
Facebook in a statement says, "We want Facebook to be a place where people can discuss things freely, while respecting the rights and feelings of others, which is why we have already have policies and on-site features in place that enable people to report abusive content. We will remove any content that violates our terms, which are designed to keep material that is hateful, threatening, incites violence or contains nudity off the service. We recognise the government's interest in minimising the amount of abusive content that is available online and will continue to engage with the Indian authorities as they debate this important issue".
There seems to be growing tension between the Government and Social Media companies. Angry over the fact that a Facebook page maligned Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal on Monday, according to a report in The New York Times, asked internet companies and social media sites like Facebook to screen user content and remove disparaging, inflammatory or defamatory content before it goes online.
This comes in the wake of Team Anna having used social media extensively during its anti-graft corruption. Anna Hazare's anti-graft campoaign was a big hit on the Internet with anti-government protests trending on Twitter and Facebook.
According to sources, Sibal has been meeting officials of top internet companies like Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Facebook for the past few months.

US judge rejects Apple bid to halt Samsung Galaxy sales
San Jose: Apple failed to convince a US judge to block Samsung Electronics from selling some Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the US market, depriving the iPhone and iPad maker of crucial leverage in a global patent battle between the two companies.
In a ruling released late on Friday, US District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose, California denied Apple's request for a preliminary injunction against Samsung.
The two companies are engaged in a bruising legal battle that includes more than 20 cases in 10 countries as the they jostle for the top spot in the smartphone and tablet markets.

Earlier on Friday, an Australian court extended a halt on sales of Samsung's latest Galaxy tablet in the country by at least a week, as Apple appeals a ruling that had ended the ban.
Apple sued Samsung in the United States in April, saying the South Korean company's Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets "slavishly" copies the iPhone and iPad.
But on Friday Koh rejected Apple's bid to ban sales of three smartphone models, as well as the Samsung Tab 10.1.
"It is not clear that an injunction on Samsung's accused devices would prevent Apple from being irreparably harmed," Koh wrote.
Apple spokeswoman Kristin Huguet on Friday referred to previous Apple statements about the case, saying that Samsung's "blatant copying is wrong." Samsung representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Apple could still prevail in the overall lawsuit. But it's inability to win a quick halt to Galaxy sales in the United States comes as the stakes skyrocket in one of the fastest growing consumer electronics markets.
Under pressure
Global tablet sales are expected to explode to more than 50 million in 2011. Apple, which has sold more than 30 million iPads so far, is expected to continue to dominate the market in the near term.
Apple's new CEO Tim Cook is under pressure to show he can fill the large shoes of his predecessor, late Silicon Valley titan Steve Jobs. But in his first quarterly result unveiled as permanent CEO, Apple stunned Wall Street, missing expectations for the first time in years.
Analysts said customers held off buying iPhones in the September quarter, waiting for the October launch of the latest iPhone 4S.
But tablets proved a bright spot. The company moved 11.12 million units during the quarter despite attempts by various manufacturers, including Samsung, to capture a slice of the tablet market.
Now Amazon.com has also entered the fray with its Kindle Fire tablet, but Samsung's Galaxy line-up is widely deemed the closest rival in terms of capability and design to the iPad.
Acknowledging the competition, Cook said it was "reasonable to say" none of Apple's rivals have gained any traction, and he expected the tablet market to be bigger than personal computer in the long term.
In her ruling, Koh wrote that for some of the smart phones, "Apple has established a likelihood of success on the merits at trial."
Koh added that Apple would likely prove Samsung infringed one of its tablet patents. However, Apple had not shown that it was likely to overcome Samsung's challenges to the patent's validity, Koh wrote.
Apple must demonstrate both infringement and validity to succeed in its lawsuit.
The case in US District Court, Northern District of California is Apple Inc v. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd et al, 11-1846.

What is the difference between ‘New York minute' and ‘Facebook minute'?
A ‘New York minute' is a very short period of time; it is actually less than a minute. The relatively new expression ‘Facebook minute' means the exact opposite. It is used to refer to a relatively lengthy period of time. Very often people say they will check their messages on Facebook and get back to you in a minute. Once they log in, they forget about their promise, and stay online for a long period of time.
